Seasonal advice

autumn heating tips
As we head into Autumn...

Here are a few tips for seasonal heating:
  • Have your boiler serviced once a year (ideally before winter) to avoid any problems in the coldest months.
  • Make your boiler more efficient by adding a Programmer and Room Thermostat, and Thermostatic Valves on your radiators.
  • Smart Controls you can add to your heating system enable you to be in control even when you are not at home, and the most sophisticated controls can zone your home to be heated at different temperatures and time settings in different areas or rooms.

How to make savings on your heating costs
  • Set your heating to be off when you’re out at work, away for the day or have gone to bed. Investing in Smart controls can make this process easier.
  • Dress appropriately according to the season, think cosy jumpers, not t-shirts!
  • Lower the heating on individual radiators in rooms which you are not using, easy to do with TRV’s.
  • Touch your radiators. The heat output should be even over the whole radiator. If you feel distinct cold spots in either the top or bottom, have the problem rectified, your radiators are not working to their full potential.
